T-Shirt – Pimkie

Trousers – Zara

Sliders – Fila

Eyewear – HM

I don’t often shop at Zara but they have done well by me on the last shopping excursion I had (R.I.P Overdraft). These pants are probably my favourite thing in the world at the moment, they give me so much life with the socket buttons at the bottom half that can be fastened to show a sexy bit of leg (and give you a bit of the breeze in warm climates) or kept shut to give a more demure kind of look. They remind me a bit of speed racer (and I just googled the cartoon to see if that made sense) with the colour scheme and I can totally see him rocking these if he were a bit more fashion orientated – I mean the red scarf is still a look and who know, maybe I’ll incorporate that staple into a look with these beauties at some point.

The shirt is a simple little statement that I rock to the core, after all – FUCK THE PATRIARCHY! is definitely one of my favourite phrases (and genuinely, fuck it to hell and beyond). There has been a rivulet of pro feminist protest T-shirts this year, with Marc Jacobs (amongst many other designers) including them within their brands and I have wanted one for quite a while now, so when I saw this simple little number at Pimkie, I thought, why not? I want one, it’s super cheap, let’s get one! So I got it. I think style is an incredibly personal expression of one’s self and I’m with the idea of having my clothes express my thoughts, what I stand for and believe in, as well as what I don’t.

Now I wasn’t partial to sliders for a very long, long time but a good friend of mine (S/O to Princess Fabia) swore by the comfort of hers and I gave it a go with the FILA sliders. I’ve got to admit that she was right, they are by far the most comfortable shoes I have ever had and they’re pretty cute too (and they match the colour scheme of the trousers!). I went pretty bare on the accessories with this one, my fashion shades from H&M were the only thing I had on. And they kind of paint the world in sunlight when they’re on your face – something I appreciated very much in London (Lisbon, not so much)

Overall, I’m just really excited to make the most of my cute ass pants. Look out for more on ModainLondres soon!

Just a candid of me doing some gardening*

 Top – Zara

Bottoms – Zara

Heels – Pull&Bear

Choker – ASOS

I just want to start with appreciation for this outfit,

It was so fun and free to me,

It seemed like a bird sewed onto a patch of Muslin

Some sort of poppy half turned to a thoughtful period

A colon where a hyphen should be.

That’s what it felt like to me.

Can you tell I’m feeling just a bit carried away with the fairies at the moment?

I leave Lisbon today and as much as it saddens me to go, I’ve got sooo much I want to do/learn/create when I’m back that the thoughts of all that could be fills me with endless excitement. I am literally exasperated that I can’t start until I’m back home!

But more on what I wore. Both the top and jeans were finds in Zara that normally I would have walked past but my style is constantly in a state of metamorphosis and I feel like I needed these youthful emblem’s in my wardrobe. A stamp of credibility that I’m not stuck in a rut with my style and haven’t settled on a certain school of stylistic thought pattern etc etc.

I love the splashes of colour in this outfit and really although, I’m more of an extroverted introvert looking back at the accessory choices I made on that day, I’m a fan of the pink lace choker and the green hair (re-dyed that morning, just sayin’). The brilliant green of the plants behind me and the rose that I had in my hair. I didn’t want to desecrate the flower to stand in for an accessory and so, I created an illusion and didn’t pluck it. Take care of your gardens guys, you gotta show love for the earth that sustains our species (:

Got to go and get some last minute packing done now,

Until I’m back in London and have more to show y’all,

Take care and have a great weekend xxx

P.S I associated the print on the back of the shirt to Drake and so, in his words’F**k a Fake Friend where your Real Friends at?’

(I’m excited to see mine soon, ciao!)

Heels – Pull&Bear

Olaaa,

I’ve been waiting to wear this outfit out for weeks and finally got a chance to a couple of days ago when it got cooler in the evening for me to don the peg trousers and long sleeved open drape top. I think exposed backs have an increasingly sexy allure and although, I don’t show mine often, I feel incredibly confident when I do.

On a side note, I also really hate wearing skinny jeans at the moment so these trousers (like the others I’ve been wearing recently) gave me room to breathe and just slouch/relax ygm? (You get me?) The heels were also a great find in Pull&Bear’s outlet store (I got them for 10 euros less than you would have at normal stores – still a bargain haha) and they are comfortable to walk in for hours thanks to the thicker heel and sole.

I also leave Lisbon in a couple of days and it’s breaking my heart to go so soon. I usually stay for five weeks or so but I’ve got a lot going on with prepping for third year and various projects and cut my visit to three weeks… which feels kind of odd. The familia is as sad as I am to see me leave and honestly, this summer, like every other has really changed my perception on certain things. It is in this city that I learn more about myself and revert to my true form, around kin and kind that feel the same.

I’ve also got a lot of cool ideas for Modainlondres and the inspiration that has stemmed for this verao (summer) is definitely going to stick around and materialise very soon!

Until then,

Ate Ja xxx

This couple pretty much made my day and I may have, mayyy have (maybe have) followed up after first seeing them in order to take this picture for ModainLondres (I pretty much stalked them why lie). They just corresponded so well with one other both in terms of appearance and style. I love how smart casual the girl was dressed whereas her boyfriend was just exceedingly casual. They were such a good looking couple too! I think the man might have been French which makes him even more so attractive. Those damn French accents ugh.

So I haven’t been blogging regularly as some of you might have noticed but I do have my reasons, the main being exams which have thus led to all my energy being spent on revision leaving me quite lethargic at the end of the day. Only a few more weeks to go and then I’ll be back and better for it since it will be summer. Finally.

Hope y’all have a great weekend and coming week and to anyone else facing finals, Good Luck!

Maxi Shirt Dress – Original Bershka – Alternatives – Boohoo /AliExpress

Spread Winged Eagle Necklace – AliExpress

Assorted Coloured Leather Bangles – Almari

I must have changed my outfit around four times on the last day I spent in Dubai. The first of which was this gorgeous maxi shirt dress from Bershka – which has got to be one of my favourite stores ever! I first discovered the brand in Portugal around 2008/9 and I must mention that the stock they have in Portugal is better than what their stores stock in the UK. Don’t shoot the messenger cause it’s pretty true. It’s the same with Zara and Desigual – the latter in which I can’t fathom ever buying anything in (it’s almost too messy a sight for my eyes.) The reason for which however I attribute to Portugal being so close to Spain, which is where the brands mentioned above originated from so it makes sense for the Portuguese stores to get the creme de crop in terms of stock.

However I did find this item of clothing in the Bershka store in Westfield! I’ve been biding my time to wear it since December, so of course jumped at the opportunity to get it out in the sunny streets of Dubai and let it take in some air and obtain much needed attention. Don’t you adore the bracelets by the way? (I do.) The ones with the snake print are probably my favourites. They’re adjustable as well so one could wear it as an arm cuff if wanted… which I think I probably will some day soon…

Have a good Bank Holiday or in other regions cases, just a really great weekend everyone!

Black Maxi Skirt – New Look

Khaki Green Cropped Jacket – Zara

Assorted Bangles: Almari.co.uk

My outfit for the second day in Dubai was considerably more chilled than the first and I couldn’t help but feel extremely giddy at being able to wear a maxi skirt. What I’d give to live in a country with a warmer climate… sometimes I almost forget I did for sixteen years of my life (Shout out to Kenya!)

The green Zara jacket is one of my favourite pieces for the upcoming summer 2k14 (thought I’d say it like that because I find it hilarious) and the khaki threads reminds me of the colour theme present throughout Balmain’s A/W 14 collection, of the latter which I was and still am a great fan of. Pairing it together with the rest of the elements proved no great feat and the ensemble overall is one that’s very pleasant for a day during which you wish to do nothing but take in sights or relax in the warmth of the loveable suns rays.

Which is pretty much what I did.

Hope everyone has a good weekend!

This set was pretty much inspired by the amazing weather we’ve been having in London these past two weeks. It’s odd how sunny and dry it’s been, really odd. As I write this, sunlight is filtering in through my blinds and caressing my skin, what a tease tsk. Now although the suns out and everything seems merry, the mornings are still quite chilly so the set that I put together today was more or less what I had originally wanted to wear myself until I felt how cold it really was outside. I bought the lovely khaki coloured cropped jacket yesterday and sought to wear it with a lacey monochrome crop top and maxi skirt. The crop top I included in the set is gorgeous with slight ribbed detail and would have been in my clutches if the Zara store I visited yesterday had had it in stock. Sigh.
I chose a maxi skirt with sheer polka dot detail to give this outfit a bit of Va Va Voom~ and the white Nike sneakers are a definite must have for this summer. They go perfectly with almost every kind of ensemble – I’ve even seen a few people wear them with party style dresses (not for me but they carried it off well enough!). I feel like almost every single person in this city has a pair of Ray bans – their sales margin must peak during Summer! And why not? They make great sunglasses after all.
A recurring pattern in previous posts must have highlighted my adoration for all necklaces that are of a choker design so adding the Cameo choker was foreseeable at the least. I kept the accessories minimal because this outfit really is one you chill in; to meet up with a few friends, walk around a park with them and just soak up the bountiful suns rays, all whilst listening to some Lana Del Rey<3 The headband was intrinsic to this look as I envisioned an up do to go with the vibe I was creating with this set. A bit sporty, a bit chic and a hell lot of cool. (I suddenly feel like the Fonz)
Hopefully we haven’t used up all our sunny day coupons this month and the good weather stays for as long as it possibly can!
Have a good week guys!
