Just a candid of me doing some gardening*

 Top – Zara

Bottoms – Zara

Heels – Pull&Bear

Choker – ASOS

I just want to start with appreciation for this outfit,

It was so fun and free to me,

It seemed like a bird sewed onto a patch of Muslin

Some sort of poppy half turned to a thoughtful period

A colon where a hyphen should be.

That’s what it felt like to me.

Can you tell I’m feeling just a bit carried away with the fairies at the moment?

I leave Lisbon today and as much as it saddens me to go, I’ve got sooo much I want to do/learn/create when I’m back that the thoughts of all that could be fills me with endless excitement. I am literally exasperated that I can’t start until I’m back home!

But more on what I wore. Both the top and jeans were finds in Zara that normally I would have walked past but my style is constantly in a state of metamorphosis and I feel like I needed these youthful emblem’s in my wardrobe. A stamp of credibility that I’m not stuck in a rut with my style and haven’t settled on a certain school of stylistic thought pattern etc etc.

I love the splashes of colour in this outfit and really although, I’m more of an extroverted introvert looking back at the accessory choices I made on that day, I’m a fan of the pink lace choker and the green hair (re-dyed that morning, just sayin’). The brilliant green of the plants behind me and the rose that I had in my hair. I didn’t want to desecrate the flower to stand in for an accessory and so, I created an illusion and didn’t pluck it. Take care of your gardens guys, you gotta show love for the earth that sustains our species (:

Got to go and get some last minute packing done now,

Until I’m back in London and have more to show y’all,

Take care and have a great weekend xxx

P.S I associated the print on the back of the shirt to Drake and so, in his words’F**k a Fake Friend where your Real Friends at?’

(I’m excited to see mine soon, ciao!)

Olaaa,

I’ve been waiting to wear this outfit out for weeks and finally got a chance to a couple of days ago when it got cooler in the evening for me to don the peg trousers and long sleeved open drape top. I think exposed backs have an increasingly sexy allure and although, I don’t show mine often, I feel incredibly confident when I do.

On a side note, I also really hate wearing skinny jeans at the moment so these trousers (like the others I’ve been wearing recently) gave me room to breathe and just slouch/relax ygm? (You get me?) The heels were also a great find in Pull&Bear’s outlet store (I got them for 10 euros less than you would have at normal stores – still a bargain haha) and they are comfortable to walk in for hours thanks to the thicker heel and sole.

I also leave Lisbon in a couple of days and it’s breaking my heart to go so soon. I usually stay for five weeks or so but I’ve got a lot going on with prepping for third year and various projects and cut my visit to three weeks… which feels kind of odd. The familia is as sad as I am to see me leave and honestly, this summer, like every other has really changed my perception on certain things. It is in this city that I learn more about myself and revert to my true form, around kin and kind that feel the same.

I’ve also got a lot of cool ideas for Modainlondres and the inspiration that has stemmed for this verao (summer) is definitely going to stick around and materialise very soon!

Until then,

Ohayoooo Gozaimasu/Good Morning !

I’m attempting to learn Japanese at the moment and thought I’d test out my slight conversational skills at the start of this post. So, as you can see, the pinstripes are back. I sort of stocked up on these trousers on impulse when PLT went on sale earlier this year. And they are so lightweight and airy that I didn’t get to wear them until I hit warmer climates. That being said, they are truly a Godsend in this heat .

Pairing the camel pinstripes with a similarly vertical stripped tie front crop top that cinched this look at the waist, created a well proportioned svelte figure. Something I aim for in most of my looks to kind of balance the scales as I’m a lot smaller up top than at the bottom. The flower choker is also one of my most favourite finds from this year and it complemented the strong power stripe look by adding a certain feminine softness.

I’m going to disclose a slightly embarrassing fact now. I actually fell down the stairs during this blog shoot and put on a brave face for the last two pictures. I’m really clumsy and honestly, I’m surprised I hadn’t fallen down them before then. I guess I’m trying to supply a moral to my little story here, you’ll fall down stairs in life but as long as you get up and hustle through, you’ll be alright.

Until the next post,

Beijinhos xxx

Olaaa,

This was the second part of my visit to Portobello Market and it’s leaning more so onto the picturesque side of the little (long) road that houses the market. The multicoloured houses made me reminisce of the pretty little Dutch houses I had seen in Amsterdam last year. Although, the colours were slightly prettier pastel shades of blue, green, pink and tangerine. It was all a bit dreamy and I loved the setting of space within those housing blocks.

I’ve got a thing for off the shoulder tops as you can tell from the these posts, nothing makes me happier than feeling the sun on my shoulders and the wind in my hair. Despite London’s temperamental weather it was a good day to be out and about and I just want to pause for a second and shout out my friend’s sister Ruee for taking these great pictures. You’re both real MVP’s and I’d be lost without your direction x (Thanks again for showing me Portobello Market Charlottie!)

The car I’m posing next was surprisingly enough, a really kitschy cab and I for one would love to be driven around in it. It made me feel happier the instant I set eyes on it with its meticulously decorated exterior. Inspirationally flower power orientated, it was full of vibrancy and in my opinion was quite soulful. So, I guess the name of the cab (company?) Karma cabs was fitting haha.

Before I get off track, the boat neck top I’m wearing was actually very comfortable and sat easily on my shoulders. I know a lot of the time we can get apprehensive about boat neck/off the shoulder tops due to their penchant to ride up, definitely not a problem with this particular fit! A real bargain at £17.99 too!

I hope you’ve enjoyed the last two posts on ModainLondres, I’m off on holiday starting tomorrow so the next few blog posts will be set in sunny Lisbon. The city that forever has my heart in its grips. And before I forget, I tried my hand at curating a little look video for this post (which I couldn’t post on this blog for some reason) that is currently up on my Instagram.

Here’s the link: https://www.instagram.com/reinha.n/ or for ease of access, you could just click onto the Instagram link that’s on the side panel of my blog for a look see 🙂

Have a wonderful day xxx

Hey Hey,

So I’ve decided against writing posts that focus primarily on talking about what I’m wearing and why I chose to do so because I’ve come to realise that sometimes, I just throw things on and my outfits come through for me (I love those kind of days). More importantly, I got bored with blogging because I was trying to fit this niche of a fashion blogger that posts about just that and that’s not who I inherently am, and it’s why I guess I stayed away for so long.

This blog will now be an open space for anything and everything that inspires or interests me and with this change, my posts will definitely be more regular and well, more me. I’ll be putting my poetry up as well as little travel stories/rants/anything that comes to mind really and I hope you’ll all be accepting of that change. It’s definitely going to change ModainLondres’s layout and overall appeal – maybe – who knows really? (Social media Gods do)

That being said, I am still very passionate about personal style and honing/expressing your own identity through the clothes that you choose to adorn yourself with. Like, hey peg trousers where have you been for the majority of my life? I’m way too much of a committment-phobe to commit to wearing skinny jeans 5/7 days a week and I never quite understood the aesthetic of loose-fitting clothes until quite recently – okay major lie*

I understood, I just didn’t think it was for me – until I rediscovered these trousers in my wardrobe, like damn, I think I might have worn them all week if I wasn’t so regimented with my denim. The khaki top was a birthday present from my sister – thanks again xx and it is so comfortable and the right level of cropped, it’s short but not short enough to feel outed by the cold and that just makes me happy (and warm)

Plus its a great summer colour *prays for sunshine tomorrow*

I’m also going to attempt to trangress the boundaries within which I feel comfortable and so there will be also be a few beauty and (LUSH) hauls on here fairly soon!

And I solemnly promise not to disappear for another 8 months

Does anyone else feel a little strung out (more than a little) after all the festivities and mush that this time of year involves? Don’t get me wrong, I do love it! But after two weeks of constant moving and shaking and God knows I can’t dance so we’ll leave that one out. I feel the need, now more than ever to present myself with a little holiday, a weekend away, something like that but it’s not possible at the moment so instead I daydream about what I’d wear on this ‘weekend away’.
I’d want to be comfortable that’s for sure and what better a way to both be comfortable and look stylish in than a bold Chanel No.5 Sweatshirt print? Yeah I didn’t think anyone would disagree. I added a little vintage touch to this set by including mom jeans, hello 80′s influence! Once again comfort was key, then of course the little backpack because one really does need a purse/bag big enough to keep all the miscellaneous items that would not fit into the actual suitcase. (Plus it was shiny and stripy thus cute!)
The six inch heels come in because I firstly didn’t want this set to get too comfortable and secondly because I was tailoring it for myself, they were a necessity. Not only does it add a little sexy sophistication into the mix of otherwise lazy pieces but it also gives you that little bit of extra confidence along with the added height and great posture! + I also loved the gold chain link ankle cuff on them – need those shoes now.
This is what I’d wear on a weekend getaway. Well on the first day anyway and that does not involve the evening or nightwear!
What’s your take on the perfect R&R weekend ensemble?

BANK #SS14 Collections & Trends

Yesterday I attended my first press day and was lucky enough to preview BANK’s new collection for their in-house brands; Ribbon and Blonde + Blonde as well as their two new and exclusive for SS14 brands; Pink Soda and Fenchurch (pour femme this time!)

Pink Soda for SS14 is the epitome of femininity! The collection’s colour palette features mainly pastels with bold embellishments, articulate beadwork and lots and lots of sequins. The dresses are drop dead gorgeous and so sweet and girly looking, it’s almost like they’ve been dipped in sugar. Take a look for yourself!

I do love the inclusion of the bright oranges and splashed white in all it’s lacey and intricately embellished beauty. One of BANK’s key trends ‘Spice Trail’ resides within the Pink Soda brand and the design team have taken inspiration from the far and middle east, embodying the influences in the forms of statement jackets and jewelled accessories (which I forgot to take pictures of, sorry guys!)

The second newly established collection is Fenchurch’s exclusive collection for women and that collection, take my word for it, is amazing. I am in love with most of the pieces from the capsule collection! The muse for Fenchurch’s womenswear line is the notion of ‘girls wearing guys clothing’ and also the apparent influx of such from celebrity pop culture i.e. Rihanna, Rihanna, Rihanna. It’s a wonderful collection and I honestly couldn’t stop myself from reaching out to it from amongst the rest of the beautiful clothing/trends, maybe it’s cause I’m secretly hood? Or just very, very into fierce street style looks which this collection embodies well. The American baseball shirts/vests/Varsity style shirts/appliqued bomber jackets are all given an androgynous edge when worn by females and I like that Fenchurch’s collection for women upholds the same base template as the original menswear collection did (which attracted women to buy Fenchurch’s mens clothing in the first place! At least before this collection was created.) Teamed with chunky jewellery, edgy accessories such as see through fanny pack bags and controversial marijuana leaf prints, this collection is fun and fierce (forever linking this word to Beyonce!) and assertive in its right to be seen and heard. And I for one cannot wait to get my hands on it!

(How very Versace! This shirt needs to be mine ASAP!)

Two other exciting trends present in BANK’s in-house brand Ribbon are Geo Mod and Botanical Garden. Bold gorgeous floral prints and patterns for S/S14 but with 60’s inspired silhouettes and digital and depth adding grid-like prints on skater and shift dresses, need I say more? I’m starting to wonder whether it’s not too early to start shopping for Spring/Summer…

_SAM8564

Also, how bad are these shoes begging to be bought by you?

_SAM8581

(The futuristic looking and neon green clutch have stolen my heart!)

(The two toned neon block heels<3)

The block heeled monochrome boot was probably my favourite from shoe wear, and that was definitely a hard decision to make from so many uber cool shoes (flatforms, sandals, heels you name it) to choose from.

I’m already excited for S/S14 and it’s not even here yet! It’s definitely tempting to max out your credit card or spend your newly acquired pay check on the new trends and collections that BANK has to offer, so maybe it’s a good thing that they don’t get released for a few more months? Maybe, talvez, peut-être…
