Peg Trousers – ASOS
Ankle Boots – Office
Monki Drawstring Bag – ASOS
So I’ve decided against writing posts that focus primarily on talking about what I’m wearing and why I chose to do so because I’ve come to realise that sometimes, I just throw things on and my outfits come through for me (I love those kind of days). More importantly, I got bored with blogging because I was trying to fit this niche of a fashion blogger that posts about just that and that’s not who I inherently am, and it’s why I guess I stayed away for so long.
This blog will now be an open space for anything and everything that inspires or interests me and with this change, my posts will definitely be more regular and well, more me. I’ll be putting my poetry up as well as little travel stories/rants/anything that comes to mind really and I hope you’ll all be accepting of that change. It’s definitely going to change ModainLondres’s layout and overall appeal – maybe – who knows really? (Social media Gods do)
That being said, I am still very passionate about personal style and honing/expressing your own identity through the clothes that you choose to adorn yourself with. Like, hey peg trousers where have you been for the majority of my life? I’m way too much of a committment-phobe to commit to wearing skinny jeans 5/7 days a week and I never quite understood the aesthetic of loose-fitting clothes until quite recently – okay major lie*
I understood, I just didn’t think it was for me – until I rediscovered these trousers in my wardrobe, like damn, I think I might have worn them all week if I wasn’t so regimented with my denim. The khaki top was a birthday present from my sister – thanks again xx and it is so comfortable and the right level of cropped, it’s short but not short enough to feel outed by the cold and that just makes me happy (and warm)
Plus its a great summer colour *prays for sunshine tomorrow*
I’m also going to attempt to trangress the boundaries within which I feel comfortable and so there will be also be a few beauty and (LUSH) hauls on here fairly soon!
And I solemnly promise not to disappear for another 8 months
Camel Knit W/ Roll Neck – ASOS
Oversized Denim Jacket – Bershka
Black Skinny Jeans – Topshop
Metallic Pink Backpack – Newlook (Sold Out) // Alternative – ASOS
Boots – ASOS
Well, I’m not sure what to say right now, which is hardly surprising seeing as I haven’t blogged in over a year but I’m glad to be back to it. Honest! I’ve missed being able to write on this platform, although reasons as to why I took such a long hiatus are slightly unclear even to myself, I’ve got to say, it was needed. I’ve just started my second year at university so I’ve been taking advantage of the large campus space (time between my lectures) to shoot outfit posts for y’all, so, yes the buildings you see coming up in my posts from time to time are part of my university but hey, girls gotta do what a girls gotta do!
I think my favourite aspect of this outfit overall is how much colour is interwoven into the structuring of it, from previous posts you know I’ve always more or less been about the monochrome and minimalism but recently I’ve been having a strangely sensual love affair with colour – my favourite colour at the moment is pink so you know this is true! The backpack in the post is the best thing I’ve bought in months. Months! And it was on sale too! (£10 bargain yo)
I believe that one of the things that made this ensemble so fun to shoot (asides from having my friend Charlotte be my photographer hehe) was how comfortable it was. I’ve never really been an advocate for the winter time, the thought of my days getting shorter and colder makes me want to get into bed and pull the duvet over my head but, but, but I’m really digging my wardrobe this year so that may just change. This knit (which was the most perfect camel colour) is the warmest and most comfortable piece of knitwear I’ve ever owned, it’s not scratchy as knitwear can sometimes be and its just the right level of thickness to keep you warm but not too warm especially when the weathers as partial as it is in London. The denim jacket I could fangirl about due to having been on the look for the perfect one for over a year, so when came across it last month in Bershka, I knew it was my ride or die. Love at first sight sort of moment.
All in all, I love this outfit with its little splashes of compact colour – especially the pink backpack (I had to mention it again, I just had too) oh and the boots – which have always been a staple piece of my wardrobe are slightly higher than usual too haha. ALWAYS a bonus!
I’m really going to try to keep the posting as regular as possible so love me again and see ya soon
Tartan Coat – Urban Outfitters
Alternative Men’s Striped Shirt – Next
Jacquard Embossed Slim Trousers – Topshop
Shoes – ASOS (Sold Out)
I loved the colour play in this outfit so much! Literally skulked around Oxford Street/Bond Street/God knows where for over an hour and a half before I came across this stylish woman. The first thing I noticed about her were her shoes, it’s odd but you can really tell a lot about a person through their choice of footwear – after seeing those contrast coloured heeled shoes however, I just knew that I had to take her photo!
Rain or shine, Tartan will always be in it’s prime. (I’m a poet at heart guys). Needless to say I adored the calf length tartan coat – been looking for one similar to it for months now myself! And the straight leg red trousers + her boyfriend’s striped shirt certainly complemented the overall outfit. How amazing is her hair by the way? I’ve always, always had a thing for afro’s! Could have had one if my mother didn’t relax my hair so much as a child (I was constantly breaking hair brushes in it). This woman also told me that she’s a blogger herself, not surprising at all because of her great style!
I was in a real rush and wasn’t able to talk to her much if at all – which I do feel guilty about – I just hope I didn’t come off rude! But hopefully she’ll be able to find my blog and we can reconnect 🙂
Have a great weekend everyone!

Cropped black sweater – Asos
Velvet Leggings – Boohoo.com
Brown faux fur Vintage Coat alternatives – ASOS/H&M/Ebay
ASOS shoes – Out of Stock
First off, how striking is this woman? I love the colour of her hair so much, the platinum blonde sheen instantly reminded me of Khaleesi from Game of Thrones (I’ve recently started watching the series and it’s safe to say I am completely hooked!)
Most of the pieces she was wearing were vintage and so finding close enough alternatives for some of them was pretty hard but I did my best. Recently I’ve been on Ebay a lot (losing at bidding wars mostly) and have noticed how much great stuff there is on it – especially vintage clothing sold abroad from America! (Fingers crossed I win on my most recent bidding war for an amazing pair of printed palazzo pants from the late 70’s!)
Also I thought I’d share a look that I styled recently for a concert with you all 🙂
Vogue Beanie – Choies
Kikita Greek Print T-shirt Dress – Missguided
Ribbon Long Line Biker Jacket – BANK Fashion (On sale now for £25!!!)
Wet look faux leather leggings – Ebay
Clare Lace Up Boots (my faves!) – BANK Fashion (Out of Stock)
This look was 100% inspired by Abel Tesfaye’s music (The Weeknd<3). I put it together in the hope of standing out from the rest of the crowd and maybe catching his eye when he peered out at the masses of fans at the O2 Arena the Tuesday before last. I’m pretty sure the only reason I failed to do so was because the guy closest to the barriers I was behind was too tall and blocked me from view half of the time. But I’m sure that he did see me and we shared a few smiles and wonderful moments, that Tuesday I also realised I was more of an avid fan girl that I originally thought (oops)
I did love my whole outfit though, it was edgier that most of what I usually wear and I couldn’t help but feel overwhelmingly confident and hood worthy in it all. That day I felt that I had undeniable (dare I say it? Yes I do) ‘swag’.
Hope everyone has a good week
Scarf – Matalan – A bargain at £6!
Shirt – Zara
Trouser – AllSaints
Black Patent Croc Toe Cap – Newlook
Similar Statement Necklace – Ebay , Asos and Topshop
I thought this look was effortlessly chic. The exclusion of pattern and print on the garments was made up for by the intricate floral design statement necklace and striped headscarf. This look just exudes an air of sophistication. Over all, very well put together.
Black Leather Look Pocket T-shirt – TOPMAN
Similar Floral Printed Trousers (Original were a brazilian brand that he couldn’t recall) can be gotten at – AliExpress (which takes about two weeks to deliver) and Ebay. The latter link expires in 25 days so make sure you grab these beautiful floral printed pants whilst you still can!
Grey knit Beanie – River Island
Pineapple Necklace/Pendant – Etsy
Boots – Dr Martens
I love, love, loved the floral printed trousers! The baggy pants paired with the well fitting black t-shirt with the leather pocket and the grey beanie + the gold pineapple necklace was a marvellous mix and match. I wish more men would embrace the floral hues and prints that the spring/summer seasons throw at us every year.
There’s a reason as to why many people (not just I) find Brazilian people so attractive, its not only their charming disposition or the fact that they speak one my favourite languages, it’s also due to their exotic style and manner in which they carry themselves.
And this Brasileiro carried it off perfectly!
This look whispers one word to me, a genteel, whimsical word that reached its peak popularity in France in the early 19th century; Bohemian.
When I asked this woman where she got her apparel from she told me it was all from China, so all the links provided will be alternatives that either look the same or are similar!
White shirt – Ebay
Black faux fur gilet – Ebay (Just £20 + about £4 extra for postage. SO much cheaper than the ones from Asos or Topshop!)
High waisted leather shorts – NEWLOOK
Boots – Asos
Loved everything about this look especially the faux fur and leather combination.
I would definitely wear the outfit myself but perhaps with more accessories like a large flowery headpiece. I’ve been really into them lately (absolutely adore them).
Will DEFINITELY be getting the fur gilet for myself.
I think everyone should have one to be honest. I mean, it’s cosy, it’s warm, it’s fashionable and it ships worldwide!
