Ohayoooo Gozaimasu/Good Morning !

I’m attempting to learn Japanese at the moment and thought I’d test out my slight conversational skills at the start of this post. So, as you can see, the pinstripes are back. I sort of stocked up on these trousers on impulse when PLT went on sale earlier this year. And they are so lightweight and airy that I didn’t get to wear them until I hit warmer climates. That being said, they are truly a Godsend in this heat .

Pairing the camel pinstripes with a similarly vertical stripped tie front crop top that cinched this look at the waist, created a well proportioned svelte figure. Something I aim for in most of my looks to kind of balance the scales as I’m a lot smaller up top than at the bottom. The flower choker is also one of my most favourite finds from this year and it complemented the strong power stripe look by adding a certain feminine softness.

I’m going to disclose a slightly embarrassing fact now. I actually fell down the stairs during this blog shoot and put on a brave face for the last two pictures. I’m really clumsy and honestly, I’m surprised I hadn’t fallen down them before then. I guess I’m trying to supply a moral to my little story here, you’ll fall down stairs in life but as long as you get up and hustle through, you’ll be alright.

Until the next post,

Beijinhos xxx

Hey Hey,

So I’ve decided against writing posts that focus primarily on talking about what I’m wearing and why I chose to do so because I’ve come to realise that sometimes, I just throw things on and my outfits come through for me (I love those kind of days). More importantly, I got bored with blogging because I was trying to fit this niche of a fashion blogger that posts about just that and that’s not who I inherently am, and it’s why I guess I stayed away for so long.

This blog will now be an open space for anything and everything that inspires or interests me and with this change, my posts will definitely be more regular and well, more me. I’ll be putting my poetry up as well as little travel stories/rants/anything that comes to mind really and I hope you’ll all be accepting of that change. It’s definitely going to change ModainLondres’s layout and overall appeal – maybe – who knows really? (Social media Gods do)

That being said, I am still very passionate about personal style and honing/expressing your own identity through the clothes that you choose to adorn yourself with. Like, hey peg trousers where have you been for the majority of my life? I’m way too much of a committment-phobe to commit to wearing skinny jeans 5/7 days a week and I never quite understood the aesthetic of loose-fitting clothes until quite recently – okay major lie*

I understood, I just didn’t think it was for me – until I rediscovered these trousers in my wardrobe, like damn, I think I might have worn them all week if I wasn’t so regimented with my denim. The khaki top was a birthday present from my sister – thanks again xx and it is so comfortable and the right level of cropped, it’s short but not short enough to feel outed by the cold and that just makes me happy (and warm)

Plus its a great summer colour *prays for sunshine tomorrow*

I’m also going to attempt to trangress the boundaries within which I feel comfortable and so there will be also be a few beauty and (LUSH) hauls on here fairly soon!

And I solemnly promise not to disappear for another 8 months

Hello hello!

Being back after two months of absence feels slightly strange but it’s been a hectic last few months what with exams and uni preparation, summer being a gentle reprieve from reality of course. I didn’t quite realise how much I had missed blogging until I started writing this post. Why did I ever stop eh?

Anyway, last week I had a mini test shoot with my friend, Faisal, a talented photographer trying his hand at fashion photography and these are some of the results from the shoot – which I have split up into two parts in order to distinguish the two looks I styled. Recently I’ve been trying to accommodate my personal style and as we do, purchased a new signature scent (it smells divine, divine, divine) and changed my shade of lipstick in the process. The look I was going for here was very laid back with hints of sophistication and a sort of rebellious youthful air; hence the mashup of style paradigms. Given my brief overview does it come as any surprise that we chose to shoot in Camden?

Do check out Faisal’s photography on his:

And with that I bid you adieu until the next post,

Lucy Clutch Bag – BANK Fashion – Marc B

_SAM8899I apologise if I’m scaring you with that glare, I really didn’t meant to come off that unapproachable (blame it on the lack of sleep!)

Recently, BANK Fashion launched Marc B on their online site and sought out to collaborate with different bloggers on a ‘What’s in your bag’ sort of theme. Well guys, here you have it. This is what was in my Marc B Lucy Clutch bag – which I think is gorgeous – Burgundy always was one of my favourite colours!

Barry M Smoking Hot Makeup Palette Dark as my soulYum!

Kate Moss 107 (One of the best shades of red I have ever come across!)

Mac DIVA – Perfection.

Rimmel Scandalous Eyes Waterproof Eyeliner (Can’t leave the house without it)

White Apple Earphones

White iPhone

I have to confess. I’ve never really been a clutch bag kind of girl but I honestly do love this Marc B clutch, it’s so practical and minimalist in terms of it’s design and detail and yet undeniably stylish at the same time. Just my kind of man, I mean bag* (There could be a pun involved there). I chose to keep the colour scheme of this look as dark as I could with varying minimalist monochrome detail – you could say I was inspired to do so. The only pops of colour allowed were the Lucy Clutch Bag and my lipstick whose shade perfectly matched that of the clutch (Lord love me some Diva!) Alternatively I also picked out my gold choker to offset the gold detail on the zips of the clutch. What can I say? When I set out with styling an outfit, I really do pay attention to every little detail.

Hope you all dig this little outfit and have had a good start to the week!

I don’t really know how I put this look together (I’m in a bit of a sleep deprived haze at the moment – 27 hours and counting) but I think it started off with me finding the floral playsuit. I’ve had it for years and never really worn it but felt that I should and then I started questioning why playsuits/jumpsuits disappeared around the winter time. The answer is obvious enough but I sought out a solution and thus coupled it with the shirt. which I thought worked quite well. Then I added the accessories (not even going to mention the leggings because in this weather, they’re basically a necessity – unless you’re one of the brave ones). I won the geek glasses off an Ebay bidding war (told you guys I was starting to get addicted to them!) and I do adore them. Although my mother did tell me straight off that I looked like Ugly Betty as soon as she saw them on me. Harsh eh?

I just threw on the hat as an afterthought but thought it worked well too and then added my faux fur lover to the mix for some vintage glam. The boots were added to the ensemble because well, they’re gorgeous and super comfortable and I honestly cannot bare to part with them!

I’m not a fan of these pictures (you can see how much my eyes are crying out for sweet rest) but wanted to share the OOTD with you all 🙂

Hope everyone hasn’t had as terrible a case of Monday Blues as I have xo

Similar Black Leather BraletMissguided 1, Missguided 2, Asos and my own personal favourite Urban Outfitters

Alternative Beige TrousersAsos (All you have to do to recreate the look in the photo is roll up the pant legs!)

Plaid Long Shirt Dress – I managed to find an almost exact match at YesStyle! A shorter version is however available at UNIQLO if that’s more preferable

Boots – Also found these beautiful boots on Ebay!  Definitely grabbing myself a pair as soon as I can!

I shot this couples photo at the Fashionstyleologer fashion book launch and just came across it now. Absolutely loved this woman’s style so decided to make it my next post as it is still technically street style fashion.

I’m not a big fan of wearing leather bralet’s during the day but I liked how it was considerably tamed down by the beige trousers and plaid dress shirt. A very casual and cool look 🙂

Dress – Either Asos if you’d like the dress to be pure white or Hurleys/Fantasia Boutique for the same peach white colouring of the dress in the picture.

Similar white Lace coatYesStyle or AliExpress – The latter coat can double as both a dress and/or a coat.

Shoes – Exact match at Missguided!

I hadn’t ever thought about combining white lace together in one outfit before I saw this woman. She truly was able to pull it off and had such a sweet look about her!

Adore peach white lace dress underneath the coat, a slight throw off from the rest of the pure white colour scheme but it worked beautifully.

Earlier this year there was an influx of white in Spring collections. Broderie , brocade, lacework, you name it.

This trend has seemingly leaked into Autumn/Winter collections and the Moncler Gamme Rouge collection Autumn/Winter 2013 at Paris Fashion Week is a prime example!

Perhaps a little over the top for some people and none can attest that it was beautifully executed.

moncler-white_2502435a

The ethereal white colour scheme, the glittering crystals, mirror panels and snowflake detail on the winter gear brings the White Witch Queen of Narnia to mind almost instantly (for those that have either read the books or seen the movie anyway).

Overall it created a grandiose imagery of seductively beautiful, well dressed, icy hearted winter fairies.

White is often thought to be semantically linked with purity, innocence and most of all the season of winter.

What other way would there have been to bring out all of these elements other than to parade statuesque ice maidens down a catwalk dressed in the colour that ties it all together?

I’m going to take my own advice through the apparent ardour I have for this particular collection and invest in a beautiful white winter coat now.

London Fashion Week is also officially over!

It was great, it was good, it was inspiring, it was awe-spiring and we must sadly say goodbye to it until next year.

I wasn’t able to go to any shows this year but definitely will in 2014!

London Fashion Weekend however starts tomorrow and is on until the 22nd *Claps hands excitedly*

If you’re interested in buying tickets to the events which will be held at Somerset house, this link will direct you where to go.

Hope you’ve all had a lovely London Fashion Week and are looking forward to the next as much as I am!
