(All Alternatives)

Dog Emblem T-Shirt –  Rebels Market/Etsy (Mostly Pugs)

Long shirt/Overcoat – ASOS1/ASOS2

Under the Knee Socks – Boohoo1/Boohoo2

Flatforms – Ebay

I tried to get alternatives as close to the original items as I could but it was pretty difficult considering all that this style savvy girl had on was from Buenos Aires. I loved midnight blue overcoat and really hope I come across something similar to it soon, it would be perfect to layer with… although I really should cut back on the layering with it being summer and all that. I found the under the knee socks interesting seeing as they’re normally worn over the knee by most people but I think it accommodates one’s height and looks pretty fetch either way. (Yes. Fetch is a thing!)

The t-shirt, to me, was reminiscent of a much tamer version of Givenchy’s bulldog emblem and I dug the vibe the outfit as a whole gave off. Pretty groovy, pretty different. And that my loves, is what I aim to showcase on this blog – although I did start to forget the point of it recently but ayyy, I’m back now.

Also Portugal got knocked out in the group stages although we did win our last game (thank God for little mercies)! However my team Germany is still in it to win it which it probably will. My bets between Germany and Netherlands although it would be nice to see Brazil win. I think it would be really uplifting for its population and the economic crisis they’re in. Part of me (most of me) does disapprove of the brazilian government for bypassing the needs of its citizens in favour of hosting the World Cup but sigh… this is just the way in which the world works.

Sorry for getting so downcast towards the end of that, hope you all have a great week ahead!

Bag – Vintage Fendi (Ebay)

I was on the train on the way back from the private viewing of artist Halima Cassell’s new work at the Contemporary Ceramics Centre and was caught up in my own mind as always, I had been thinking  ‘I wonder why I haven’t seen anyone style long shirt dresses/jackets with t-shirts in so long’. Twenty seconds later (maybe thirty) I saw this girl walking in from of me. I legit could not contain my glee! And of course I asked to photograph her. This is genuinely such a great look.  It’s so… chic. The only flaw I could see with this as a whole was the green fedora hat (I didn’t think it flowed too well) but it didn’t look too out of place either.

Another detail that caught my eye was the vintage Fendi bag, now I adore all things Fendi and I can’t help but think I had seen it before in a charity shop in Brick Lane. I was right. It was the SAME exact bag I had been ogling two weeks ago, how strange! Perhaps this is the universe’s way of letting me know I should have bought it when I had had the chance.

Now I saved the best for last. I saw this amazing couple in Kings Cross St Pancras station and was awe-spired by their synergy. The vibrant colours, eye catching mix and match prints/patterns, the makeup, the facial hair? Wow. Just wow. I ran towards them as soon as they came into my range of peripheral vision. Asides from looking incredible in their chosen attire they are also well travelled, the clothing they are wearing has been collected from various corners of the globe. Be it from Thailand, Japan or Australia, you name it, they were wearing it.

A relationship in which both complement the others style, that mi amor, is what I want. Find me a man who’d agree to go out in public with me when I sport Princess Leia buns and he may put a ring on this finger. It would just be an added bonus if he wore his hair that way too 😉

Sapatos de Seaside

Lisbon-Portugal

Seaside’s shoes have been a part of my wardrobes entourage for years now and why ever not? The brand thrives on high quality and innovative products that not only look great on your feet but make love to them too. I jest you not!

Seaside’s shoes are some of the MOST comfortable shoes I have ever had the pleasure to own! They are truly amazing, breaking in high heels (Sapatos de Salto) has never been so enjoyable.

Being a Portuguese brand, Seaside has done considerably well on the international scale and have been in business for over 25 years now. In my mind I envision the head design team to be a cozy bunch of avo’s (grandmothers) who note down every idea, detail, stitch and style to pass down to later generations so as to keep on the tradition. Oh, did I forget to mention that these avo’s are incredibly stylish and are always decked out in the edgiest apparel/accessories?

I remember my first Seaside shoe; It was the summer of 2007 in Lisbon and I was twelve and on the verge of a prepubescent breakdown not knowing if the guy I pledged to love even knew of my existence and what not. My mae (mother) decided to take me shopping to get my mood out of the perpetual funk it was in at that stage and after a few huffs I let her lead me out of the house and onto the street. I vividly recall hefty cow figurines being scattered around the streets of Lisbon that year, leftovers of the Cow Parade from the year before. There was even one in front of the Seaside store in Praça de Londres, Lisbon.

The first Seaside shoes I ever bought were these huge pink imitation trainer flatform’s (Flatform’s in 2007, I was ahead of my time I know, I know.) They were my first sort of heeled shoes and for that reason I adored them. I even went home and showed them off to my crush the next day! (He may have laughed okay)

They may have been slightly odd to adorn my twelve year old feet with but I loved them and they went on to be a member of my shoe clique for years. I still had them up to two years ago until I moved to London and left them behind in Kenya (Seaside’s shoes are amazingly durable!)

I love, love, loved the floral printed trousers! The baggy pants paired with the well fitting black t-shirt with the leather pocket and the grey beanie + the gold pineapple necklace was a marvellous mix and match. I wish more men would embrace the floral hues and prints that the spring/summer seasons throw at us every year.

There’s a reason as to why many people (not just I) find Brazilian people so attractive, its not only their charming disposition or the fact that they speak one my favourite languages, it’s also due to their exotic style and manner in which they carry themselves.

And this Brasileiro carried it off perfectly!

This look whispers one word to me, a genteel, whimsical word that reached its peak popularity in France in the early 19th century; Bohemian.
