Modern Day Vampire

The buttoned up white collared shirt, the trench coat like wrap around jacket with faux leather panelling, the skinnies, the subtle hint of eyeliner and that great hat. (You will not believe where the clothing is from!)

I was hanging out in Camden Town when this icy beauty caught my friend Ibby’s eye, he told me to turn around and that’s when I saw him walking off in front of us. Of course I ran after him to ask if I could take this picture. What really surprised me though is that the clothing; the hat, the shirt and that beautiful jacket are all from PRIMARK!

I was shocked but it’s true that Primark have been doing considerably well in terms of the quality and style of their apparel this year. For example, I’ve had my faux leather backpack with the Gold embellishments ¬†for over three months now and although I use it practically everyday, it still hasn’t shown any sign of wear and tear. Usually with Primark the problem is that the clothes/accessories don’t last all that long before they begin to fade/shrink/wither away. Well this doesn’t seem to be a problem anymore!

I may just need to pay a visit to the store myself ūüôā

I’ve always had a thing for bow ties. At first my attention pivoted towards the men that wore them, in year 12 I had the biggest crush on this guy for no reason other than the fact that he wore one and he wore it well. Now, however my interest in them has spiked even more so because I realised two things; 1) They are not a male only accessory and 2) Because I feel confident enough to wear them.

The oversized white shirt is a basic need and I urge all women to get one (this one in particular if you can before it runs out of stock!) I had a very different concept in mind when I bought the leather leggings; they were mainly to be paired with baggy sweatshirts and heeled boots but I couldn’t help and try to pair it with the white shirt because as simple as the two items are on their own, together they look, well… really nice. The heels I’m wearing are from New Look and God almighty must have created them because they are literally the most comfortable pair I have ever owned! I’ve worn these for ten hour shifts at a time and still no blisters and no complaints at all!

The overall look is quite simple and yet it’s classy enough to be worn out, a bit of a gender bender with the outfit being very male oriented -albeit not the leggings so much and the latter do help to bring a more feminine touch to the ensemble.

The bow tie is as you may have guessed by now, my favourite part of the outfit and was the statement accessory that tied the entire ensemble together.

Have a great weekend everyone!

Lace Bralets, embellished short shorts, chunky block heels and minimal bling.

My inspiration for this set was the thought of a group of femme fatale’s who used their feminine wiles and sly disposition to get whatever they wanted in whichever way they pleased. I may have had a slight Wild West setting to the thought as well which is partly why I added the bandana’s. The chunky gold jewellery was added because I wanted the outfit to even out in terms of perhaps being too feminine. That as well as the chunky heeled boots ¬†I picked out because of their versatile and comfortable nature adds a strong edge which could be provoked by the link to popular rap culture. Therefore it almost gives a ‘thug-like’ feel to the complete look.

Is it too odd that this would definitely be my desired outfit if ever I were to rob a bank?

Minimalist color schemes, I feel are perfect for these dreary English Monday’s and I’d love nothing more than to drag myself out of bed at 6 a.m. and put on this entire ensemble before heading to work with a Starbucks in my hand. Definitely the ideal work outfit for my dream job working as a fashion journalist/editor for a well known fashion magazine. (One day, one day.)
The lace detail on the otherwise simple black halter neck dress as well as the white over the knee lace stockings were inspired by Japanese Harajuku style fashion. Now not many people apart from those closest to me know this but I’m crazy about about Japanese culture; the food, the religious traditions, the cultural festivals, the social conventions, manga (one of my favourite things in the whole world) and most especially, the fashion!
There are different categories within the Harajuku sense of style and the one I picked on for this look was a mix of kei visual/kawai. Overall I wanted to integrate those elements with a very urban street style look hence the lush bomber jacket. Another vision of inspiration for me was the Meidham Kirchhoff S/S 14 collection. Now I have gushed to friends and sometimes strangers about this particular collection, it is quintessential and I want nothing more than to own a piece of it.

(For those that wish to fulfill this wide-eyed desire of mine, my birthday’s on Wednesday – email for my postcode ;))
I didn’t notice it up till now but the ensemble I composed is very similar to the top right Meidham Kirchhoff collection piece isn’t it? This has all been done subconsciously I swear! How absolutely breathtaking is the collection though? (I feel incomplete without it)
I’m definitely going to buy all the jewelry I chose to complement the outfit, they’re all statement pieces and I chose to focus on rings more so than anything else because well, I have a thing for them. A real heady, intoxicating appeal for them. The ear cuff and necklace although sold by different labels look like a aesthetic set which is part of the reason I chose to pair them together however with this outfit it may be better to leave the choker out as it could understate the lace detail of the dress. I really want all of these items for myself. Really do.
Now on to the beauty products, the Tom Ford Black Orchid lipstick looks to be a deep purple shade but is actually a dark red and is surprisingly wearable in at least 4 different ways – as a stain, as a class lipstick, as blush, and with a gloss over. Very durable and very chic. The Rimmel Scandalous Eyes Waterproof Eyeliner is another favourite of mine. Last week I searched four different department stores on both Oxford Street and Bond Street to find it and lucked out at the Boots in the West One shopping Center in Bond Street Station. These babies are selling out fast and I definitely know why. This eyeliner is the best I have come across in years, being not only smooth but also long lasting, waterproof and easily applicable!
As for the glasses… they’re just really cool.
Here’s to hoping the weather gets better! Bjs **

These are some of my favourite things. Don’t you love them?

The Marc Jacobs watch has been on my wishlist for a few weeks now and I hardly ever wear or want to purchase a watch! The rings are a given, it’s the one jewellery piece I can actually wear for long periods of time without getting too fidgety. However the faux leather jogging pants although a definite coveted¬†item ensues a bout of hilarity for me everytime I bring them up.¬†I think that they may¬†forever¬†remind me of the Kanye West interview with Zane Lowe which Jimmy Kimmel made a pardoy of using children.

I swear that comment was not random! In the original interview, Kanye rants about how he presented the idea of leather jogging pants to Fendi years ago and got rejected; ‚ÄúMe and Virgil [Abloh] are in Rome, giving designs to Fendi, over and over, and getting our designs knocked down ‚Ķ [We] brought the leather jogging pants six years ago to Fendi, and they said ‚Äėno.‚Äô How many motherf***ers you done seen with a leather jogging pants?‚ÄĚ

I do love that man, not so much for his music but for the priceless and scandalous statements he makes almost daily.

The tartan¬†crop top and fur gilet¬†had a love affair¬†in my mind and¬†when¬†paired them with the Jeffrey Campbell Scully platforms, VOGUE beanie and smiley face backpack¬†created a formidable edgy synery for me that I couldn’t help but want to see materialised. Rimmel’s line of Kate Moss lipsticks has also had me transfixed as a fan for almost a year now and¬†I own two of the darker red shades (Numbers¬†01 and 10) with intentions to get more in the future. Overall I could say that I’ve owned four but I lost the other two earlier in the year (I have terrible track with¬†beauty items) but I did replace them which is saying much for their overall appeal. I love this line especially because of how creamy and long lasting the lipsticks are, usually the main problem for me with wearing anything other than a light lipgloss is that the products dry out my lips¬†but¬†BUT THAT NOT A PROBLEM WITH THIS LINE!

Honestly try them out and see for yourself ūüôā

I had a very different vision in mind when I asked my friend Roman-Erol to model for a Street Style shoot and although the outcome did differ from what was in my head, I was pleased with the results. Roman’s style is very laid back and has a sort of demure air about it although that may be a by-product of his own persona. The asymmetrical tartan shirt was definitely a favourite although I didn’t know it was his own creation until much later (I’m upset he won’t teach me how to sew.)

We chose to shoot in Brick Lane because, well, it’s Brick Lane. I don’t think there’s ever been a time wherein I’ve wandered through that area and not come across someone who I immediately either feel the need to photograph or fawn over their style. It is definitely one of my favourite places in the whole of London. The same can definitely not be said for the weather that day! It was clear for about two minutes between each outfit change and pouring the next fifteen but apart from the less than desirable climate everything else went off with few hitches. An interesting first experience and I’m definitely going to be doing more of these kind of projects in the future.

Bag – Vintage Fendi (Ebay)

I was on the train on the way back from the private viewing of artist Halima Cassell’s new work at the Contemporary Ceramics Centre and was caught up in my own mind as always, I had been thinking ¬†‘I wonder why I haven’t seen anyone style long shirt dresses/jackets with t-shirts in so long’. Twenty seconds later (maybe thirty) I saw this girl walking in from of me. I legit could not contain my glee! And of course I asked to photograph her. This is genuinely such a great look. ¬†It’s so… chic. The only flaw I could see with this as a whole was the green fedora hat (I didn’t think it flowed too well) but it didn’t look too out of place either.

Another detail that caught my eye was the vintage Fendi bag, now I adore all things Fendi and I can’t help but think I had seen it before in a charity shop in Brick Lane. I was right. It was the SAME exact bag I had been ogling two weeks ago, how strange! Perhaps this is the universe’s way of letting me know I should have bought it when I had had the chance.

Now I saved the best for last. I saw this amazing couple in Kings Cross St Pancras station and was awe-spired by their synergy. The vibrant colours, eye catching mix and match prints/patterns, the makeup, the facial hair? Wow. Just wow. I ran towards them as soon as they came into my range of peripheral vision. Asides from looking incredible in their chosen attire they are also well travelled, the clothing they are wearing has been collected from various corners of the globe. Be it from Thailand, Japan or Australia, you name it, they were wearing it.

A relationship in which both complement the others style, that mi amor, is what I want. Find me a man who’d agree to go out in public with me when I sport Princess Leia buns and he may put a ring on this finger. It would just be an added bonus if he wore his hair that way too ūüėČ
